Leaders of Industry Lunch Reports & Photos

Ninety leaders and representatives from the business, education and government sectors gathered at the RDA Gold Coast's Leaders of Industry Lunch on 1 July 2022, to see the culmination of the first stage of our Gold Coast Regional Jobs Committee project.
Following an introduction from special guest speaker the Hon Di Farmer MP, Minister for Employment and Small Business, and Minister for Training and Skills, we presented our final report, identifying the jobs of today and future for the Gold Coast region, and where we go from here.
This included the on-the-ground recommendations gathered from experts in our key emerging industries including:
- Advanced Manufacturing
- Biomedical
- Industry 4.0 and ICT
- Space, Aerospace and Defence
- Marine
The report presentation was followed by a lively panel discussion on the challenges we are facing right now in meeting the employment needs of these knowledge-based industries, and how we can start building pipelines from schools to industry to meet future demand. Our panellists were Nathan Burns (Blockchain Collective), Nicholas Lindsay (Gilmour Space Technologies), Dr Chris Davis (Institute for Glycomics) and Shay Chalmers (Strategic Engineering), with Dan Barr from the Better Cities Group moderating.
